Smith, C. R. (Cyrus Rowlett)

(1899–1990) aircraft executive; born in Minerva, Texas. After having worked in banking, he became manager of Texas Air Transport, owned by the Texas-Louisiana Power Company. In 1934 this company reorganized, becoming American Airlines. He was chief executive until he retired in 1968, when he served as secretary of commerce for one year.
