 [pa´vor] (L.) terror.pavor diur´nus attacks of anxiety in children during a daytime nap.pavor noctur´nus a sleep disturbance usually occurring in children and characterized by extreme anxiety occurring shortly after sleep onset, with panicky awakening, fear and signs of autonomic arousal, inability to be comforted, poor recall of any dream, and later amnesia for the event. Repeated occurrences are called sleep terror disorder.
