Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival

Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival

Weekend near July 4Acclaimed enough to have been the subject of an hour-long documentary on national television, the Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival held every year on a weekend near the Fourth of July in Smithville, Tennessee, celebrates the style of country music popularly known as bluegrass. Musical competitions are held in 24 different categories, including fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, dulcimer, harmonica, folk singing, gospel singing, buck dancing, and clog dancing.
There are also musical performances, both formal and impromptu, as well as more than 200 booths where working artists and craftspeople display their work. Most of the events are held on a stage set up in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse. The highlight of the festival is a head-to-head contest between the best of the fiddlers. The winner receives a cash prize and the Berry C. Williams Memorial Trophy, named after the festival's founder.
