Thyroidin

 

a preparation obtained from the desiccated thyroid glands of cattle; it contains the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine and thyroxine. Iodine content is standardized at 0.17–0.23 percent. Thyroidin in the form of powders and tablets is used to treat thyroid deficiency states, such as myxedema and cretinism, as well as thyroiditis.
