Uralskii Rabochii

(Worker of the Urals), a daily newspaper and organ of the Sverdlovsk oblast committee of the CPSU and the Sverdlovsk Oblast Soviet of Working People’s Deputies. Ural’skii rabochii, one of the oldest Bolshevik newspapers, is published in Sverdlovsk. From February to August 1907 it was published as Rabochii (seven issues; circulation, 5,000–10,000). From Oct. 15 (28), 1907, to Feb. 4 (17), 1908, it was called Ural’skii rabochii and was published in Ekaterinburg and Ufa as the organ of the Ural oblast committee of the RSDLP (three issues; circulation, 2,000–4,000). The editorial staff was headed by N. N. Nakoriakov and I. I. Shvarts. In March 1908 the editorial offices and printshop were raided by the police.

From April to August 1917 the newspaper was published under the name Ural’skaia pravda. On Sept. 6 (19), 1917, it was renamed Ural’skii rabochii, and on Oct. 28 (Nov. 10), 1917, it became a daily. Circulation, 575,000 (1975).

Ural’skii rabochii has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1957).
