Uraltau

the main dividing ridge of the Southern Urals in the Bashkir ASSR and in Cheliabinsk Oblast of the RSFSR. The Uraltau Ridge is 290 km long and reaches an elevation of 1,068 m at Mount Arviakriaz’. The ridge is composed primarily of schists and quartzes. Forests of pine and larch and of birch grow on the slopes of the Uraltau Ridge.
