Sugoi

Sugoi

 

(also Buksunda), a river in Magadan Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Kolyma River. The Sugoi measures 347 km in length and drains an area of 26,100 sq km. It originates in the Kolyma Highlands and flows through an intermontane basin, where it splits into branches. The river is fed by snow and rain. High water lasts from late May through September. The mean flow rate 289 km from the mouth is 57.7 cu m per sec. The Sugoi freezes in October, and the ice breaks up between late May and early June. In some winters the river is frozen to the bottom for up to two months. There is a coal deposit in the Sugoi River basin.
