Tibilov, Aleksandr Arsen’evich
Born Feb. 4 (17), 1887, in the village of Zaldant’e, in what is now Dzhava Raion, Iuzhnaia Osetiia Autonomous Oblast; died June 8, 1938. Soviet Ossetian writer and literary scholar.
Tibilov graduated from the history-philology faculty of the University of Odessa in 1915. Prior to the October Revolution of 1917 he wrote poetry, and after Soviet power was established in Iuzhnaia Osetiia he taught, wrote, and did research. He was the author of articles on the works of K. Khetagurov, E. Britaev, Ts. Gadiev, and S. Kulaev. He published works of Ossetian folklore, essays, and articles on Ossetian literature. He also translated F. I. Panferov’s novel Bruski.
