Twin Fishing

the catching of fish by two identical, usually small-tonnage fishing boats, called twins, with the help of a straining fishing device—a trawl or seine—which they tow. Twin fishing is particularly effective in shallow water, when the cables from the wings of the trawl or seine force the fish encountered in the cable’s path of movement into the net, promoting an increase in the productivity of the catch. Resistance to the movement of the twin net is insignificant, thus allowing lower-powered vessels to be used for twin fishing than for other methods of fishing.
