Pressoreceptors
Pressoreceptors
sensory nerve endings that perceive changes in pressure; they belong to the group of mechanoreceptors.
The pressoreceptors are located in the walls of blood vessels (most often called baroreceptors) and in hollow internal organs. There are receptors that are sometimes classified as pressoreceptors in subcutaneous tissue, which are stimulated when there is pressure on the skin, and in the skeletal muscles (usually called proprioceptors).
