an urban-type settlement in Dunaevtsy Raion, Khmel’nitskii Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Smotrich is located on the Smotrich River, a tributary of the Dnestr, and is 8 km from the Balin railroad station on the Khmel’nitskii-Larga line. It has a brickyard and a food-processing combine.

a river in Khmel’nitskii Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. The Smotrich is a left tributary of the Dnestr. It is 168 km long and drains an area of 1,800 sq km. The river flows through a deep valley in the Podol’e Upland. It is fed primarily by snow. The mean, flow rate 21 km from the mouth is 4 sq m per sec. There are seven small hydroelectric power plants and reservoirs on the river. The cities of Gorodok and Kamenets-Podol’skii are located on the Smotrich.
