Urasa
Urasa
an ancient type of summer dwelling used among the Yakuts. The urasa is a round structure made with posts set vertically in the ground and is often decorated with carving. The exterior is constructed in the shape of a cone with long poles, the ends of which are fastened together above the posts. The dwelling is covered with birch bark; inside, there is a hearth. Urasas have not been in common use since the first quarter of the 20th century.
