Special Features:The two-story Colonial Revival mansion at the park has survived several epochs of Texas history. Originally built as the home of the Pattons, an antebellum cotton and sugar plantation family, the house saw several changes of ownership following the Civil War. In 1901, James Stephen Hogg, one of Texas's most famous governors, acquired the property. The Hogg family remodeled the house extensively, and vestiges of the plantation period disappeared, with the exception of foundation ruins of the sugar mill and several slave cabins. The mansion now houses an extensive collection of historic furnishings.
