Special Features:Park is situated in a oak-hickory woodland in eastern Oklahoma on the shores of 19,100-acre Fort Gibson Lake. The lake was named for the U.S. Army fort (established in 1824) where, for many Native Americans, the Trail of Tears ended. Today, the park strives to honor the cultures of the Five Civilized Tribes, outstanding individual Native Americans, and the memory of those who walked the trail.
