Serasker
Serasker
originally, the title of the commander in chief of the army in the Ottoman Empire; in the 19th century, the title of the minister of war. From the end of the 16th century, when the Turkish sultan no longer took personal command of the army, the title serasker was also assumed by the deputies of the grand vizier who led the troops. The title was abolished at the beginning of the 20th century.
