Abram Mileikovskii
Mileikovskii, Abram Gerasimovich
Born Jan. 15, 1911, in Minsk. Soviet economist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN SSSR; 1966). Member of the CPSU since 1940.
Mileikovskii graduated from Leningrad State University in 1932 and was a docent there from 1935 to 1940. From 1940 to 1956 he served in the Soviet Army. He became the head of a sector of the Institute of World Economics and International Relations of the AN SSSR in 1956.
Mileikovskii’s main works are on the economics of contemporary imperialism, the analysis and critique of bourgeois economic theories, and international relations. He helped write a number of major monographs, including The Fundamentals of Marxism-Leninism (edited by O. V. Kuusinen, 1959), The Decline of British Imperialism (1964), and International Relations After World War II (vols. 1–3, 1962–65). Other major monographs to which he has contributed are New Developments in the Accumulation of Capital in the Imperialist Countries (1967), The Political Economy of Contemporary Monopoly Capitalism (vols. 1–2, 1970), and Bourgeois Economic Theories and the Economic Policies of the Imperialist Countries (1971). He has been awarded three orders and a number of medals.
