Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, Kingdom of The
the official name of the state created on Dec. 1, 1918, by the union of the lands of the South Slavs previously held by Austria-Hungary, which collapsed in the fall of 1918 (Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Dalmatia, and Vojvodina), with the kingdoms of Serbia and Montenegro. In 1929 it was renamed Yugoslavia.
