Seret
Seret
(known as Pravyi Seret in the upper course), a river in Ternopol’ Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, a left tributary of the Dnestr. The Seret is 248 km long and drains an area of 3,900 sq km. It flows over the Podol’e Upland and is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 77 km from the mouth is 12 cu m per sec. Ice does not form every year; in the years it does, it forms in November and lasts until early April. There are eight small hydroelectric power plants and reservoirs on the Seret. The cities of Ternopol’ and Chortkov are situated on the river.
