Rubab
Rubab
a plucked stringed instrument widespread among most peoples of Asia. It has a wooden, round or oval bulging body, a leather soundboard, four to six gut, silk, or metal strings usually tuned in fourths, and sympathetic strings; most common are those 800–1,000 mm long. The sound is produced with a plectrum. The Uzbek folk-instrument orchestra has three varieties of reconstructed rubab: soprano, alto, and tenor.
