Babushkin Bay

Babushkin Bay

 

a bay on the north shore of the Sea of Okhotsk. Cutting 30 km inland, the bay is 70 km wide at the mouth and its depth is 50–88 m. The shores are high and rocky. The shallow Shkhiperovo Bay cuts into the northeast part of Babushkin Bay. The bay is frozen from October through May. It was named in honor of the polar pilot M. S. Babushkin.
