Selikhanov, Sergei Ivanovich

 

Born Mar. 7 (20), 1917, in Petrograd. Soviet sculptor. People’s Artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1963). Member of the CPSU since 1943.

Selikhanov studied at the Vitebsk Art School from 1933 to 1937. His busts include The Artist Ch’i Pai-shih (bronze, 1957, Art Museum of the Byelorussian SSR, Minsk); among his major works are the bronze and granite monuments to K. S. Zaslo-nov in Orsha (1955), and to M. Kazei in Minsk (1958). Seli-khanov produced the sculptures of the Khatyn’ memorial complex (architects Iu. M. Gradov, V. P. Zankovich, and L. M. Levin; Lenin Prize, 1970). Selikhanov has received four orders and medals.
