Takhiatash

a city (since 1953) under republic (ASSR) jurisdiction in the Kara-Kalpak ASSR, on the left bank of the Amu Darya. Railroad station on the Chardzhou-Kungrad-Makat line. Population, 25,000 (1975). Takhiatash is the site of a state regional electric power plant with a capacity of 252 megawatts. The city has mechanical-repair and motor-vehicle maintenance plants; building materials are also produced. A commercial and economic technicum is located in Takhiatash.
