Takhta-Bazar

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Takhta-Bazar Raion, Mary Oblast, Turkmen SSR. Situated on the left bank of the Murgab River, at the Kashan River’s confluence with the Murgab, 26 km east of the Takhta-Bazar railroad station on the Mary-Kushka line. Population, 5,200 (1975). Takhta-Bazar has a milk and butter factory and a brickyard. There is also a people’s amateur theater in the settlement.
