Sergei Potapov

Potapov, Sergei Mikhailovich

 

Born Sept. 17 (29), 1873, in Smolensk; died Nov. 11, 1957, in Moscow. Soviet jurist. Professor (1938); doctor of laws (1949).

Potapov helped found scientific research and scientific investigative institutions of criminalistics in the USSR. He formulated the basic principles of the theory of criminalistic identification and the theory of Soviet criminalistics. He also created a course of studies in legal photography.
