Sergei Vologdin
Vologdin, Sergei Petrovich
Born Aug. 12 (24), 1874; died June 6, 1926. Russian metal scientist; brother of V. P. Vologdin. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Technological Institute in 1897.
Beginning in 1899, Vologdin worked at the factory of the Association of Franco-Russian Factories in St. Petersburg. In 1905 he was chosen a member of the St. Petersburg Soviet of Working People’s Deputies and a member of the executive committee of the soviet. At the end of 1905 he was arrested and deported. From 1906 to 1909, Vologdin worked in Paris in the laboratory of H. le Chatelier. Beginning in 1909 he was a professor of metallurgy at the Don (now Novocherkassk) Polytechnic Institute. Vologdin was the author (with M. G. Evangulov) of the first Russian textbook on metallography (Metallografiia, 1905).
