(Journal of Moscow University), a scholarly journal. Founded in 1946, it was published until 1949 as a single, unified issue. In 1970 the journal was being published in 14 series: (1) mathematics and mechanics; (2) chemistry; (3) physics and astronomy; (4) geology; (5) geography; (6) biology and soil science; (7) economics; (8) philosophy; (9) history; (10) philology; (11) journalism; (12) law; (13) theory of scientific Communism; (14) oriental studies. Each series publishes six issues a year, (series 14 publishes two issues a year.) Vestnik Moskov-skogo universiteta prints works by scholars of the MGU (Moscow State University), articles on various problems, works based on dissertation materials, and scholarly reports. Reviews of books and teaching aids, anniversary articles, and information about scholarly conferences and discussions taking place at the MGU are published in the sections entitled “Criticism and Bibliography,” “Personalia,” and “Current Events.” The circulation of the series (as of 1971) ranges from 1,500 to 3,600.
