Vestnik Partii Narodnoi Svobody

(Journal of the People’s Liberty Party), a weekly journal; organ of the Central Committee of the Constitutional Democratic Party. It was published in St. Petersburg from Feb. 22 (Mar. 7), 1906, through Feb. 3 (16), 1908. Its editor-publisher was V. D. Nabokov. Vestnik Partii narodnoi svobody published articles by P. N. Miliukov, P. B. Struve, V. D. Nabokov, I. V. Gessen, and others, as well as information and materials concerning the party’s activity. Critical of tsarism from a moderately liberal point of view, the journal attacked revolutionaries, most of all, the Bolsheviks. Publication was resumed after the February Revolution. The journal began appearing in May 1917 in Petrograd under the editorship of M. M. Vinaver. It defended the policies of the bourgeois Provisional Government. After the October Revolution the journal adopted a sharply anti-Soviet position and was closed down in April 1918.
