Established: 1938.
Location:65 miles southeast of Elko in northeastern Nevada.
Facilities:Visitor center, auto tour route, boat launch.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:The marsh is a remnant of an ancient lake and is supplied with water from more than 160 springs emerging from the base of the Ruby Mountains.
Habitats: 37,632 acres of marshes, open ponds, wet meadows, and sagebrush uplands.
Access: Year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: Sandhill cranes, canvasback and redhead ducks, trumpeter swans, mountain lions, and bobcats.
