Rudenko, Iurii Nikolaevich
Born Aug. 30, 1931, in Makeevka, Donetsk Oblast. Specialist in electric power engineering. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1958.
After graduating from the Leningrad Correspondence Industrial Institute in 1955, Rudenko held positions at the Orsk-Khali-lovo Metallurgical Combine and later at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (until 1960). From 1960 to 1963 he was a group leader and then head of the operational mode service of the Interconnected Dispatcher Control of the Siberian Integrated Power Grid. In 1963 he joined the faculty of the Siberian Power Engineering Institute of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR; he became the institute’s director in 1973.
Rudenko’s principal works deal with development of the scientific principles of automated, operational control of electric power systems in the USSR and techniques of investigating the reliability of electric power and pipeline systems, including the extensive use of mathematical models and computers.
Rudenko has been awarded the Order of the October Revolution.
