Prikaz Kamennykh Del

(Central Administration for Stone Construction), a central government institution in Russia in the late 16th and the 17th century, responsible for constructing stone buildings for state institutions, producing and procuring building materials, and selecting the labor force for construction work.

The Prikaz Kamennykh Del is first mentioned in 1583–84, but no information on its activities can be found prior to 1615. It was active from 1615 to 1700 and between 1700 and 1728 was part of the Prikaz Bol’shogo Dvortsa (Palace Prikaz), which managed the households of the grand prince and tsar. From 1775 to 1782, the Prikaz Kamennykh Del functioned in Moscow, according to a decision of the Commission for the Maintenance of Moscow and St. Petersburg, which convened in 1762.
