Web: www.talimenascenicdrive.com Description:Byway stretches across the top of the Ouachita Mountains in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, the highest mountain range between the Appalachians and the Rockies. The Arkansas section of the byway provides access to recreation destinations such as theOuachita National Forest, as well as Queen Wilhelmina State Park and the Black Fork Mountain Wilderness Trail. The Ouchita National Forest features more than 700 trails for hiking, backpacking, horsebackriding, and off-road vehicles, including the Ouachita National RecreationTrail, a 194-mile trail that traverses the forest.
Legth: 54 miles including 16-mile section in Arkansas and 38-mile section in Oklahoma. Start/Endpoint: The Arkansas section of the byway runs from Mena, AR to the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line. Time to Allow: 30 minutes (Arkansas section) and 1 hour (Oklahoma section). Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005).
