SULT1B1 SULT1B1 A gene on chromosome 4q13.3 that encodes an enzyme which sulfonates hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs and xenobiotics. In some cases the enzyme activates them; in all of them, it increases their water solubility and, by extension, their renal excretion. It also sulfonates dopamine, small phenols and thyroid hormones, including 3,3'-diiodothyronine, triidothyronine, reverse triiodothyronine and thyroxine. |
