Pedigree Record

Pedigree Record

a zootechnical document that contains information on the origin, breed, growth and development, productivity, and other qualities of pedigree animals. Pedigree records are maintained in order to standardize the data needed to appraise pedigree animals and determine their use. The principal document is an individual card made out for the dam or sire. The class of the animal is specified on the individual card on the basis of the pedigree record. A pedigree certificate and documents for recording in the studbook are filled out. The cards can be used to group the animals by a particular trait and to analyze pedigree records by computer. Pedigree records in the USSR are standardized.
