A plot in which the concentration of a drug or metabolite is placed on the Y axis against time on the X axis after a single dose or during a dosing interval. The slope of the curve depends on the rate of drug input (by infusion or absorption) and rate of elimination; the area under the curve reflects dose administered, bioavailable fraction and total clearance.
