Pei, Ieoh Ming

(1917–)A Chinese-born American architect who studied with Walter Gropius at Harvard and worked with William Zeckendorf’s contracting firm in New York City. His notable later works include Mile High Center, Denver, CO (1955); National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, CO (1967); Christian Science Service Center, Boston, MA (1971); John Hancock Tower, Boston, MA (1975); Dallas Municipal Center (1977), Dallas, TX; National Gallery of Art, East Wing (illus.), Washington, DC (1978); Kennedy Library, Boston, MA (1979); Jacob Javits Convention Center, NYC (1986); Holocaust Museum, Washington, DC (1986); Bank of China, Hong Kong, China (1990); the entrance pyramid at the Louvre Museum (illus.), Paris, France (1993), and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland, OH (1995).
