uncontrolled mosaic[¦ən·kən′trōld mō′zā·ik] (graphic arts) A mosaic composed of uncorrected photographs, the details of which have been matched from print to print without ground control or other orientation; accurate measurement and direction cannot be accomplished. uncontrolled mosaicUncontrolled mosaic: Individual prints have not been rectified and control points do not necessarily coincide.A mosaic of aerial photographs fitted together without respect to control points, giving a pictorial representation of the ground but containing errors in the scale and the azimuth. The mosaic is produced by aligning the original air photographs with images or features on air photos. For less image displacement, the centers of air photos can be cut out (because they have less displacement) and aligned. Uncontrolled mosaics are commonly used for photo indexing. |
