[‚print·ə′bil·əd·ē ‚gāj] (graphic arts) A standard pattern of lines with graduated spaces between them, used by printers to determine the size of symbol that can be printed with fidelity and to measure the amount of spread in the width of printed lines inherent in the particular printing process.
