Location:10 miles northwest of Fort Sumner via US 84, then west for 6 miles on NM 203.
Facilities:50 developed campsites (18 with electric hookups), restrooms (é),showers, picnic areas (é), group shelter, trails, 3 boat ramps, boatdocks, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, swimming, boating, fishing, water-skiing, jet skiing, hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:In addition to the recreation activities available at the park, it alsoserves as a base for exploring 19th century history at nearbyattractions. These include the Bosque Redondo Memorial and Fort SumnerState Monument, a Civil War era outpost that was the destination of thehistorical "Long Walk." Nearby also is the gravesite of the notoriousoutlaw Billy the Kid.
