Pripev

(refrain), the part of a song written in verses that is sung at the end of each verse. In a choral song, the pripev is performed by the choir after the zapev (lead-in). In contrast to the zapev, whose text changes with each verse, the pripev is usually sung to the same text.

The pripev is marked by melodic simplicity and rhythmic precision. Its words often express a general idea, a slogan, or an appeal, especially in the case of revolutionary and popular songs. The pripev is often performed twice after each verse, thus drawing particular attention to itself. The zapev-pripev correlation is also used in instrumental music, with the binary form, whose second part is also often repeated, and the rondo or rondo-like form.
