Pemzashen

an urban-type settlement in Artik Raion, Armenian SSR. Located at the northwestern foot of Mount Aragats, Pemzashen is the terminus of a railroad branch line, 32 km from Leninakan. Building stone, including tuff and pumice, is mined and worked, and facing slabs are manufactured. The settlement has a sovkhoz for dairy livestock.
