Tiger Weasel
(Vormela peregusna,) also marbled polecat, a predacious mammal of the family Mustelidae; the sole species of the genus Vormela. The body length is 27–35 cm, and the tail length is 11–20 cm. The mottled coloration is black, white, and yellow. The tiger weasel is found in southeastern Europe, Southwest Asia, Middle Asia, and parts of Central Asia. In the USSR it is encountered in the southern European portion, the Caucasus, Middle Asia, Kazakhstan, and the Altai and Tuva regions. The mammal inhabits the steppes and semiarid and arid regions. It feeds on rodents. Litters of three to eight young are born in February or March.
