Pritchett, Henry Pritchett, Henry (Smith)(1857–1939) foundation executive; born in Fayette, Mo. He was a German-trained astronomy professor who became president of the new Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (1905–30), where he established the principle of pensions for college teachers, set standards for secondary schools and colleges, and sponsored important studies on professional education, college athletics, and testing programs. |
