Penjdeh Sore
(also Penjdeh ulcer), a common name for the ulcerous form of cutaneous leishmaniasis. It is named after the Penjdeh Oasis (Penkinskii Oasis), the former name of the Takhta-Bazar Oasis in the Turkmen SSR, where the Russian scientists L. L. Gel’denreikh and I. Rapchevskii observed the disease in the 1880’s.
