Achisai

an urban-type settlement in Chimkent Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Located on the southwest slope of the Karatau Range, 5 km from the Achisai railroad station, it has a population of 10,000 (1968). Achisai arose in 1932 in connection with the mining of lead and zinc deposits. There is extraction and processing of lead-zinc ore.
