tigroid retina

tes·sel·lat·ed fun·dus

a normal fundus to which a deeply pigmented choroid gives the appearance of dark polygonal areas between the choroidal vessels, especially in the periphery. Synonym(s): fundus tigré, leopard fundus, leopard retina, mosaic fundus, tigroid fundus, tigroid retina
A normal ocular fundus in which the choroidal pattern appears as polygonal or tiled dark areas between choroidal vessels; the dark colouring is attributed to an attenuation of the retinal pigment epithelium layer and prominent choroid pigmentation, especially peripherally. Eyes with a tessellated fundus have significantly better best-corrected visual acuity and a much lower rate of progression of myopic maculopathy
