Tih, Jabal Al-

a plateau in the Arab Republic of Egypt, located in the central part of the Sinai Peninsula, northeast of the Gulf of Suez. The Jabal al-Tih descends toward the north from an elevation of 1,075 m to 500 m. It is composed mainly of sandstones. The terrain features hammadas. Sheep, goats, and camels are raised by nomad farmers, and date palms and grain crops are cultivated in the plateau’s few oases.
