Tikhomirov, Viktor Vasil’evich

 

Born Dec. 10 (23), 1912, in Kineshma, in what is now Ivanovo Oblast. Soviet scientist in the fields of radio electronics and automation. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1953). Member of the CPSU from 1948.

Tikhomirov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Power Engineering in 1940. After being on the staff of a number of scientific research organizations, he became a department head at the Institute of Biophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1962. His major works deal with radio-engineering methods as applied to the development of aviation instruments, instruments for other engineering systems, and instruments for the automation of biological research.

Tikhomirov received the State Prize of the USSR in 1943, 1945, and 1953. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals.
