Pentagrid

 

a seven-electrode electron tube with five grids: two are control grids, two are screen grids, and one grid acts as an auxiliary anode. The pentagrid is similar to a heptode. Pentagrids were used between 1930 and 1950 mainly for frequency conversion in superheterodyne receivers.
