Tikhtengen

Tikhtengen

 

a mountain massif in the central Greater Caucasus. The massif is situated in the Glavnyi (Vodorazdel’nyi) Range, in the upper Chegem River on the border between Kabarda-Balkar ASSR and Georgian SSR. It has elevations to 4,611 m and is composed of schists, gneisses, and granites. Large glaciers, including the Tsanner, originate in the Tikhtengen. The total area of glaciation is 46.8 sq km.
