Tikhvinka

a river in Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Sias’ River, which empties into Lake Ladoga. The Tikhvinka measures 144 km in length and drains an area of 2,140 sq km. It is part of the Tikhvin Water System. The river is fed primarily by snow. The mean flow rate 16 km from the mouth is 19.7 cu m per sec. The river freezes between mid-November and early January, and the ice breaks up in April or early May. The city of Tikhvin is situated on the Tikhvinka.
